My baby boy is growing so quickly now! You are nine months old and have been alive in this world the same number of months that you were alive in my belly! On Monday, you weighed a whopping 20 pounds! At nine months, you can now sit yourself up from a crawling position and just a few days ago from laying on your back (12/12)!

You still prefer your military crawl, but you are perfectly capable of crawling in the traditional stance. You think that you move more quickly military style, so you choose to move about that way most of the time.
You pull up on everything: the wall, dishwasher (which you will even try climbing on), cabinets, sofa, bathtub, stools, your highchair, my legs, and anything else that you can. You love standing and can walk with assistance. I’m anxiously anticipating your first steps. We hope that Santa will bring you a sturdy walking toy so that you can practice moving around on your own two feet.

You are talking up a storm; you started babbling December 2. We went to the Donut shop to meet Mrs. Amy and Mackenzie for breakfast, and then we all went to visit Aunt Johnnie Sue. While we were there, you wanted to show off for Mackenzie and started babbling Mamamama. You make a variety of babbling sounds, but much to your father’s dismay, you haven’t clearly made any Dadadada sounds. I’m sure you are saving it for a special moment.
Not only are new sounds emerging from your mouth but also new teeth! You have cut a total of five teeth. This past month, you have cut your top two front teeth and one new one on the bottom. Because of this, you are chewing on everything! You like teething on carrots and frozen bananas. You have tried teething on Teaka’s bone, but that is off limits!
Your appetite is growing as you are. You are sitting in your high chair and feeding yourself more these days. You love broccoli, purple hull peas, strawberries, Great Mamaw’s biscuits, puff snacks, and yogurt melts (which you must love by the way your mouth waters when you eat them)!
You met Santa for the first time. I think stranger anxiety may be setting in because you were not too sure about him. I never got a really good picture of the two of you, so next year, you better warm up to the old man and make Momma happy! You haven’t asked for anything specific, but since you are such a good boy, I have a feeling that he will bring you plenty of toys to keep you busy until he visits again next year!
Your new best friend is Teaka, you spend countless hours chasing her around the house trying your hardest to get a hold of her tail or any part of her for that matter. You love looking out the door at her while she is outside, and you will laugh in her face when she comes back to the door and wants in the warm house. You are obsessed with her bowls, so we had to move them to the washroom, and you get really mad at me when I close the door to the room right before you have a chance to get there.
You had your first Thanksgiving; we went to Aunt Diana’s and tried to make the best of it even though Great Papaw and Mamaw were stuck at the hospital.
You attended your first funeral. We had to say bye-bye to Great Papaw. He loved you so much, but don’t be sad because you will have a chance to spend time with him again when you go home to Heaven. He will probably take you for a ride on his tractor and have plenty of cherry tomatoes for you to eat!
You never cease to amaze me. Everyday, I look forward to the moment that I come home and see your precious face smiling back at me. As Christmas is approaching, I know that God has blessed me with the best give—you!

Visiting Grandma on December 17, 2011!
