Little Man Is 21 Months!

The past few months have been full of adventures. You are getting so big! At 21 months, you are talking up a storm. You can say pretty much anything and everything. You are even using short sentences like "No, I'm not," "Sit Mama," "I don't,"More crackers please," and "Excuse me." You know some of your colors and can identify them by saying them--blue, red, green, purple, pink. You know that the green light means go, and the red means stop. You know most of your shapes. I think the diamond and oval might be the only ones we still need to learn. You can count 1-5 well, but you know some of your numbers through ten. You can identify most of the letters in the alphabet and can read short words like stop, mama, park. You are the cutest thing when you spell your words. Most of them are AEIO=Park. It is too cute! You are only 21 months old!!!! I had no idea how much and how quickly little minds could learn!

You have three of your four 2 year molars, and I am expecting the last one to start coming through your gums soon.

You do not want to go to the potty but you have started wanting your diaper changed after a stinky! Progress is slow, but that is okay.

You can feed yourself with a spoon and drink from a small child's cup.

You love to play with trains and to cook with your toy kitchen. You are obsessed with your Woody and Buzz and love to play with your football.

You love being outside and LOVE the park! I am looking forward to having more good weather to take you to play.

You still love to read books, and you are the cutest when you repeat it to me, "H-O-T Hot Peppers" or say, "SkippyJon Jones."

You love to sing and play the piano. Aunt Johnnie Sue's house is always fun because you can play the piano has much as you want!

You have had one hair cut and are needing another one soon!

You are the sweetest child. If you get angry or excited and get rough, I tell you to be gentle and you will kiss me.

You love to be held, and I hope that you desire for physical affection never fades.

17 Months

Well little man, you are 17 months old now. I've gone back to work, and we are working on getting in a good routine for you. You are growing and learning so much these days. Here is what you are doing.
You cry every morning when I leave.
You can take a cap off a bottle.
You are learning your colors; unfortunately I cannot say exactly which ones you know for sure. I think red, green, and blue. :)
You love to play and laugh.
You want my attention a lot, and if I'm on my phone, you will take it from me and put it down out of my reach.
You do more than just lead me to certain places. Now, you will take my hand and place it on whatever you want me to do.
You can put a key in the ignition.
You can work the CD player in the car.
You still love a remote and are pretty good at finding one everywhere we go.
I can ask you to throw things in the garbage, and you will go to the kitchen, open the door, and throw it away.
You love to help. You help carry the clothes to the laundry room and basically want to help do everything.
You make the sweetest faces. They are too cute, and we love it.
You've started saying balloon, yum, ball, and I'm sure a lot more that I'm still trying to figure out.

Pinterest: Quick Oatmeal Cookies

I recently made these cookies, and while they tasted great, they were falling apart, so I rolled them into balls after baking them and stuck them in the freezer. Perfect breakfast on the go!

TO MAKE A WHOLE BATCH:
1/3 cup melted butter
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg OR 1/4 cup Egg Beaters
2/3 cup Whey Low Gold or Splenda Granular (or brown sugar if you can have it)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/3 cup oatmeal, Old-fashioned or Quick (Quick holds together better)
Raisins, chocolate chips, chopped nuts – optional
Mix all ingredients.  Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.  Make into 16 cookies (to use the stats above).

15...oops...16 months!

So even though I have been home with you all summer, I've not been dedicated to our little journal, so I'm lumping 15 and 16 months together even though I feel like there is a huge difference.

I did make this list for your 15 month post.

  • You can now climb on the sofa, so we moved the ottoman in, and you love playing. You don't like it so much when I tell you to sit down, but you will learn.
  • You have found out that you can walk backwards. It is the cutest thing.
  • You grabbed my hand for the first time and led me to the sofa.
  • You love playing games like hide and seek.
  • We attempted night weaning, but you just weren't ready.
  • Your head was in the 90th, height in the 75th, and weight in the 45th.
  • You officially became a toddler without being sick one time (other than a runny nose once.)
At 16 months, you are full of personality.
  • You are using more signs now. The most recent is "please." You are so sweet when you use it, and when I say please, it is like the magic word.
  • You are surprising us all of the time with your language development. You say or have said, "hey, bye, daddy, nurse, book, bath, outside, hot, uh-oh."
  • You love spinning around and making yourself dizzy.
  • You got a Thomas toothbrush, and you love it! You don't like me brushing your teeth so much, but it must be done.
  • You have 12 teeth and two eye teeth are coming in as you sleep right now making 14 teeth!
  • You love eating apples and strawberries. Corn on the cob is a new favorite.
  • You still won't drink cow's milk, but you have had a few sips of almond without gagging...that is progress in my book.
  • You are night weaning now, and when I tell you that we aren't nursing right now, you go back to sleep. You slept through the night for the first time since you were a newborn baby. :)
  • You understand so much. I can't believe how smart you are!
  • Your newest animal sound is the owl!
  • You can spot a new book on your shelf like a hawk. You love the new/old Pound Puppy one that I brought home from Grandma's.
  • You can snap your fingers, thanks to The Ear Book.
  • Even though you don't talk much, you are so good at communicating your needs and feelings.

We've done a lot of things this summer. We took a trip to the Children's Museum, an awesome place that we will be going to for years to come. Mama and Daddy would love to play this game!

You loved driving the tractor. Just wait until Daddy has his own for you to drive!

At 15 months, you will pinch your nose when you make a stinky. It is the cutest thing EvEr!
We have spent a ton of time outside. You absolutely love it. The water hose is your favorite outside "toy"...well, that and the sprinkler! You will drink any water that you can find! At 16 months, you said the word "outside" when you wanted me to take you out! It was a soft little whisper like when you say "hot," but there was no mistaking it.
You rode the merry-go-round for the first time with grandma at Wal-mart! You did love it!

We've had some play dates with your pals. You and Jacob are getting good at playing together!

You are your father's son. You absolutely love your daddy. When you wake up in the morning, you always ask about him through your signs. When I tell you that he is at school or at work, you get so sad and make your pouty face. It is pitiful. I think you would be with him all of the time if you could. I just love it.
Swinging at the park! A favorite activity of yours.

You are just too cute. Even though you are too big to play under the bench and table without hitting your head, you do like small spaces!

We've been eating blackberries from our bush. You love them! You know how to pick them but don't understand that the red ones are not ready!

You have gotten a little possessive. This is the face that you made when daddy was giving mommy a hug. You seem to think that I am only yours, and when I stop hugging daddy and hug you, you always want to nurse. It is like you are saying, "Ha, ha Daddy, she is mine."

I love catching you playing by yourself. You love your farm animal and your trains!
I've started sewing for you, and of course, you have pose and look cute for a picture!

The hat means we are going outside. You love it.

You are such a big helper! Dad appreciates all of your help.
We took a trip to visit your pal Charley. You got a couple of new toys from a Wal-mart on the way up there out of the trip. I'm glad that you had a lot of fun playing.
The Science Museum was a blast. We got to see all of the dinosaurs. You loved playing in these cut up foam pieces. When we had to go, it was not a pretty sight.

Yay for the zoo! We love going to the zoo and seeing all of the animals. The ice cream safari was you dad's favorite! You love the train and the splash pad too!

Yes, you are my son. You love watermelon; it is only natural.

We love being lazy, and this summer has been a very lazy one but never dull when with you!

Building Our Home

I've decided to start recording our journey as we start our attempt to sell our home and build a new one. We have had our home on the market for about 23 days and have not had even one show, so this could take a while.

Currently, we have our land which my husband's mother owned. We have looked at floor plans, and we have found the one that we want. Once our house sells, we will get our plans and interview builders.

Here is the plan that we LOVE!
House Plan

Here are some pictures of our property:

It is so peaceful here; it is completely enclosed by trees. I cannot wait to have our home in this open field and watch JW run around in this huge yard.

2012 Tennis Season

This year was John Warren's first year to really experience tennis season. We went to several matches including the district tournament. We took a blanket, snacks, and toys and had a fun time watching some tennis. This year our team went to the play offs finishing 2nd in the district. Our mixed doubles went to state finishing in the top 4 (3rd or 4th). We love to support Daddy!

I just realized that I only took pictures of John Warren, but isn't he what this is all about? LOL

My oh my! You are 14 months old! Your grandma has been bugging me to death to hurry up and blog about what you did last week. For the first time, you actually ran to your grandma when she called for you. This made her extremely happy! You say mama, dada, hot, and a lot of other words but none of which I can interpret. You know that your name is on the wall in your bedroom. When I ask, "Where is John Warren," you point to the wall. I left you with your dad for a little while, and when I came home, he told me this story. He said that you were playing and then got up and walked to our bedroom and bathroom looking for me. You came back to him and said, "Mama." He told you that I had gone to the store and would be home soon. Then you started to cry but not for too long because y'all started to play with something else that distracted you. I love this story because it is the first time that you actually used my name to ask for me. My heart just melts every time I think of this!

You can follow directions (when you want to.) You knocked the pillow off of the chair, and I told you to put it back, and you did! When you are getting your bath, I ask you to hand me various objects: the fish, the little man, the book, and most of the time you hand me the correct object. You still love reading, and when I asked you to get the Pokey Puppy book, you found it on your shelf and brought it to me.

You like watching Thomas the Train and Sesame Street. One Saturday morning when you were eating breakfast, you pointed to the T.V. and wanted to watch it. Although I don't completely agree with allowing babies to watch T.V., I do think that educational shows for a limited amount of time won't do too much harm. Last week I was so surprised when you were so interested in Mr. Roger's. I hope you always enjoy that show!

Mamaw and I took you to the splash pad and you LOVED it! You still love your play dates at the park! You also liked your trip to the bookstore where you got to play with the Thomas train set and blocks!

We went to see Aunt Misty graduate from Ole Miss. You slept the entire car ride (thank goodness). You were so good and enjoyed dinner at the habachi grill.

This past month we celebrated Hallea's birthday! We went to her house and had an outdoor party. You and Hallea had a blast playing the swimming pool at the end of the party.
